Shehbaz Sharif, the President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly (NA), stated on Wednesday that the Transparency International (TI) report proves Pakistan’s ineffectual system.
The PML-N leader said in a statement that the TI report should be taken seriously since it clearly demonstrates that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) administration has only committed corruption during its time.
He went on to say that the study is urging us to make reforms and develop effective policies.
Shehbaz Sharif also asked Prime Minister Imran Khan and his ministers to fight corruption rather than hide it.
Every year, the Berlin-based non-profit issues the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), which ranks 180 nations and territories based on experts’ and businesspeople’s perceptions of public sector corruption.
Pakistan dropped 16 places from 2020 to 2021, and 20 places from 2019 to 2021. Pakistan was ranked 124th in the world for corruption in 2020, and 120th in 2019.
