BAHAWALPUR: On Sunday, the Cholistan Jeep Rally Festival Week began with an auto show at Gulzar-i-Sadiq. Local officials, in partnership with the Punjab Tourism Development Corporation, organised the gathering in the desert near the historic Derawar Fort.

Despite the cold weather and coronavirus SOPs, the auto show drew a strong crowd. The site was festooned with banners and flags by officials from the Bahawalpur Cantonment Board.

According to Board Executive Officer Rana Ramiz Shafqat, the show drew 100 riders and 70 automobile owners, including famous Haris Nisar and Muhammad Iqbal Gangla.

A pet exhibition has been set for February 7 at Gulzar-i-Sadiq by the board.

Following the pet show, the remaining activities will be held in the desert’s Derwar Fort Dilwish stadium.

On February 8, the first Jeep rally will be held at DHA, followed by a trade fair and showcase of handicrafts and paintings in Dilwish stadium on February 9. A motorcycle race will be held in Cholistan.

A poetry performance will be held on February 9th. On February 10, the Jeep rally’s qualifying round will take place, while the camel, horse, sheep, and goat dance will take place at Dilwish stadium on the same day.

The Jeep race will begin on February 11 with a flag-off ceremony. Over the next two days, the first round of prepaid automobiles for men and women, stock category competitions for men and women, and the second round of prepaid category competitions for men and women will all be held. Before the prize-giving ceremony, the event will conclude with a paragliding demonstration, followed by a cultural presentation.
