BAHAWALPUR : Last year’s winner Nadir Magsi’s crown was grabbed by none other than his own nephew, Jaffer Magisi, on the last day of the 17th Cholistan Jeep Rally, while Bahawalpur’s young racer Zain Mehmood was forced to quit when his vehicle broke down during the second round of the “Prepared” category.

According to preliminary and unofficial results, Jaffer Magsi won the second and final round of the Prepared category of the rally, while his uncle Nadir Magsi came in second. This eliminated Zain Mehmood from both the main events because his vehicle broke down during the rally, according to Dr Raheel Siddiqui, a former principal secretary to the Punjab chief minister and a frequent participant in previous rallies.

Dr. Siddiqui claims that Jaffer Magsi ran 221 kilometres in four hours, ten minutes, and fifty-one seconds (4-10-51) and Nadir Magsi in four hours, eleven minutes, and thirteen seconds (4-11-13). (4-11-13). (4-11-13).

After running the distance in four hours, fifteen minutes, and 56 seconds, Asif, a racer, finished third in the Prepared category (4-15-56).

Ms Nida Wasti, Ms Palvasha, and Ms Zulekha finished first, second, and third in the women’s category, finishing the distance in 1 hour, 27 minutes and 33 seconds (1-27-33), 1 hour, 28 minutes and 37 seconds (1-28-37), and 1 hour, 48 minutes and 52 seconds (1-48-52), respectively (1-48-52).

PML-N ex-senator Saood Majid Chaudhury improved his timings in the second round of the B category despite having his vehicle’s hood removed. Despite the handicap, he came in second, jumping five positions from seventh place in the first leg of the rally on Friday. Jam Kamal, the former Balochistan chief minister, came in eighth place in the B Category on Sunday.

In the C Category, Mahmood Majid Chaudhury of the Bahawalpur 444 Racing Club came in second.

Zain Mehmood, who placed second in the Prepared class’s B Category on Friday, was unable to complete the circuit on Sunday as his vehicle broke down before the halfway point, forcing him to withdraw from the race.

Young racers such as Jaffer Magsi and Zain Mehmood are increasingly displacing veteran racers such as Nadir Magsi, Ronnied Patel, Sarfraz Dhanji, and Dr Noorullah, who have won the Cholistan Jeep Rally for the past sixteen years, according to Dr Siddiqui, who has competed in the rally for many years.

The award distribution took place after the winners’ names were officially announced. Prizes were given to those who held positions.
