Pervez Khattak, Pakistan’s Minister of Defense and a key leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), announced his decision to join Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam on Wednesday (JUI-F).
According to sources, Pervez Khattak’s brother, Liaquat Khattak, a member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly (MPA), would formally announce his joining JUIF on March 10 in Islamabad.
In February of last year, the PML-Ikhtiar N’s Wali won a by-election for the Provincial Assembly seat of PK-63 Nowshera in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The PTI’s local leadership accused Liaquat Khattak of aiding the PML-N in the by-elections for the aforementioned seat.
