BAHAWALPUR: Punjab Governor Engr. Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman has said that the historic Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) is playing an important role in the region’s social, educational, and economic growth.

The Governor stated these sentiments during a meeting with IUB Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob on Friday at the Governor’s House.

He said that the government is fully committed to the higher education sector and is assisting in making universities active participants in social and economic growth.

The governor said the top staff and facilities are being provided to raise the quality of teaching and research operations to a worldwide level.

He said that the goal of these activities is to generate graduates who actively contribute to the region’s economy while also contributing to social development.

Governor Punjab praised the Islamia University of Bahawalpur’s educational programmes in Allied Health Sciences, Nursing, Information Technology, and other key subjects.

The IUB Vice Chancellor also provided an update on the expansion of university colleges and departments, as well as the development of additional campuses.

He said that programmes such as Student Societies and Young Leaders have been established to improve the character of the young and bring out their leadership qualities so that our youth may play an important part in social welfare and development in addition to receiving a higher education.

Governor Punjab also praised the recent convocation’s superb preparations, the building of the SDGs Goals Centre, and the distribution of a significant number of scholarships for male and female students.
